Firenze: Sights and Sounds…

This morning we visited the ‘Hotel Monna Lisa’, which is situated just down the road from the D.E.A offices. The hotel holds a grand entrance with 19th century décor, which leads out into the hotels beautiful terrace gardens. Flowers are all around – with their beautiful colors still holding raindrops from last night’s rainfall.

The red and pink roses are the first to catch our eye – their delicate scent can be smelt around the garden as we continue to explore. Every pathway leads to more trees which hold tiny lanterns on the branches. You can imagine it being a beautifully lit maze at night.

As we make our way back inside, we note the many versions of Da Vinci’s infamous Mona Lisa painting on the walls; living up to the hotels namesake. Each room holds lavish interiors and stunning designs with beautiful furnishings and fittings. You can only imagine that you would be the envy of your friends if you were to stay here!

As we leave the hotel and continue to stroll around Florence, we get a real taste of Italy from the market stalls, people, restaurants and the smell of classic Italian cuisine! In every doorway you can see pastas, pastries and pizzas – which entice you inside. The food has been one of our favorite parts of visiting Italy so far, and is certainly something we will miss when we return to the UK.

It is fascinating to get an insight into a different culture everyday – as there is always something new to see in Florence. A digital camera is essential if you hope to catch as many moments as you can. The sights and sounds of Florence are bold and beautiful, with a different sight in every blink.
